A Heart of Gratitude

Expressing gratitude helps your spouse understand how much you appreciate and value them, which in turn helps to strengthen your bond and your marriage.



When you think of your spouse, your heart should be filled with gratitude. In a healthy marriage, where each person is serving the other, gratitude should exist. It is important for your spouse to know how much you appreciate them daily. Showing gratitude can make you feel better about yourself, your marriage and your life.


So if you want to show your spouse that they matter and move towards a healthy marriage, then start with gratitude. Below are a few ways to do this!!


Tip #1 - Say It Loud


Say it loud....let your spouse know how much you appreciate them, it's essential to nurturing a healthy marriage. Start the day with a "thank you" to your spouse and say it often. It is ok to say something nice and encouraging to your spouse daily to remind them of how much you appreciate them. Thank them for the small things they do for you and the family. A thank you can go a long way.



Tip #2 - Let Your Actions Speak


Make sure your actions line up with your words of gratitude. You can start this one with a kiss and a hug. Write a letter, send a text, buy some flowers, have a date night, take a staycation or vacation. Know what your spouse enjoys and find ways to shower them with those things. Make it all about your spouse.



Tip #3 - Give More Than You Take


Successful marriages are all about serving each other. Another way to show your gratitude is to avoid existing only as a “taker.” Give, give, give–your spouse is giving to you, so make sure you not only reciprocate, but go above and beyond to give back. And when you give, take care to do it selflessly, without expecting anything in return.
