Stronger Together: Seeing the Good - Appreciation in Your Marriage

In the middle of busy schedules, responsibilities, and the stress that comes with this, it’s easy to focus on what’s missing instead of appreciating what’s present. But one of the healthiest things couples can do for their marriage is intentionally encourage one another.

Appreciation is more than saying “thank you.” It’s making your spouse feel seen, heard, valued, and recognized for who they are and what they bring to the marriage. Small words of encouragement can have a lasting impact. A simple compliment, supportive text, kind gesture, or acknowledgment of effort can strengthen connection and create a more positive atmosphere in your home.

Encouragement reminds your spouse that they are not alone. It builds confidence, deepens intimacy, and helps couples feel emotionally safe with one another. What we consistently speak into our marriage has the power to either build it up or slowly tear it down. Therefore, watch your words!!

This month, make it a goal to notice the good. Celebrate the small things. Speak life over your marriage. Be intentional about expressing gratitude—not just for what your spouse does, but for who they are.

Healthy marriages grow where appreciation lives. Sometimes the smallest words can make the biggest difference.
